Hytek Finishes Aerospace Abrasive Blaster - 2nd Shift in Woodmont Beach, Washington

Job Overview Title: Abrasive Blaster Reports to: Value Stream Manager Location: Kent, WA Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly) Schedule: 2nd Shift; Monday thru Friday, 2P to 10:30P; Training on 1st Shift for approximately 3-6 months. 6A to 2:30P Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.) Job Summary This is an Abrasive Blaster position in our Blast/Peen department. Employees in this position will use a variety of media to blast parts in order to prepare parts for processing. Abrasive Blasters may be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program*. The Abrasive Blaster performs operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications. * FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing. Responsibilities Work closely with experienced Blaster, Operators, and Department Leads to complete work and prioritize tasks. Follow technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced Blasters, Operators and Department Leads; legibly sign off on work once completed and Operator Self Verification inspection has occurred. General review of paperwork and Operator Self Verification inspection of job to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors. Prepare parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning, layout, and racking; use proper tooling and fixtures, when applicable. Knowledge of pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements. Familiar with Quality Assurance requirements & rework procedures. Familiar with engineering drawing notations. Follow safety precautions to avoid preventable injury to self and other personnel. Develop new product processing and identify areas for improvement. Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive positive change in productivity, delivery, and service. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required to participate in annual Hearing Conservation testing. Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, goggles or face shields, aprons, boots, gloves, respirators, and other PPE based upon requirements in working area. Demonstrated ability to train and positively influence others. Must be a self-starter, able to work both independently, as a team, and with customers (both internally and externally). Excellent accuracy with a strong attention to detail. Ability to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position. Ability to learn and use Lean Tools and techniques to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position. Must have a regular and dependable attendance record. Ability to Read/Write/Communicate in English and calculate basic math formulas. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility. Education/Previous Experience Requirements 1-2 years in manufacturing environment a plus.
