Business Manager - Head of Education

About the Role

The Head of Education is responsible for product planning including business case development and product development of new Education Solutions products which target university/vocational school segment for Japan market to drive revenue generation and increase market share, also manage existing product portfolios to maintain and improve product competitiveness.The primary responsibilities for this position are to identify customer needs in terms of solutions working with stakeholders and develop products.

Responsibilities

1. Define business strategy and objectives

• • Define products strategic direction in line with market requirements and business strategy together with key stakeholders
• • Validate opportunities & targets through market sizing, market segmentation and determine selling model
• • Define and agree on overall business and financial objectives and targets for new products
• • Contribute to the overall subsegment strategy through knowledge of market, competitor and industry conditions, internal strategies, customer needs and available technologies
• • Conduct pricing analysis; determine pricing with key stakeholders and Elsevier Pricing Team for new product

2. Define requirement for products

• Research and analyze subsegment specific products/solutions

• Contact customers and build focus groups to review proposed new products/features

• Develop key business development relationships (technology, solution, content etc)

3. Evaluate and evolve existing products

• Continuously review and reflect improving process, content and functionality to improve ROI

• Collect user feedback and ensure it is being incorporated to future product improvements

• Actively collect and report on key product measurable (e.g. usage, user feedback), in relation to known performance targets, and produce improvement plans where needed (e.g. content updating)

• Track post-launch results against plan and build findings into strategy

• Determine product roadmap and release plan based on customer feedback to define future development phases for the product

• Effectively communicate results and insights to other key stakeholders

Requirements

• Leadership experience (this role manages 10)

• Business Management experience

• Experience in Education Technology a large advantage.

• Business Level English and Fluent Japanese.
