Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Under general direction from the Director/Deputy Director of the Department of Planning & Development, this position is responsible for the managing the business service team to deliver effective and efficient workforce development programs and services. Intended to enhance business attraction, expansion and retention through consultations and negotiations with appropriate parties, and assisting the Department in economic development site selection.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ability to manage the business services team, budget, goals and state/local performance measures.

On behalf of the department, work collaboratively with department leadership to prepare for and facilitate confidential business solutions for workforce development projects related to site selection, business attraction, expansion & retention.

Establish and maintain relationships with local business leaders and organizations.

Act a brand ambassador for WorkReady Lucas County, LCDPD and OMJ LC to the local business community and job seekers. Oversee the job order posting process.

Collaborate with other organizations in the delivery of workforce development business services.

Obtain support from local businesses for the WorkReady Lucas County program powered by the ACT National Career Readiness Certificate (ACT NCRC)

Leads department job fairs and recruiting and employment initiatives.

Serve as the Lucas County Rapid Response Coordinator.

Conduct research on the local and regional labor markets to identify trends and conditions that will impact workforce development in Lucas County.

Develop, implement, and manage project-based workforce development business solutions.

Identify training needs for LCDPD business services team and make recommendations for professional development.

Identify grant and award opportunities that align with the mission of LCDPD.

Oversee the completion of all business services tasks and projects assigned to the team.

Develop and oversee the implementation of local policies and procedures that support state and federal workforce development policies, rules, and laws.

Complete the County Finance Information System (CFIS) Interface for On-the Job training contracts.
