Cost Accounting Manager-Princeton, IL (Hybrid)

Looking for a “hands-on” team member with accounting and financial analysis skills as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills. This position will provide financial guidance and support to plant and finance leaders and must understand and be able to meet challenges inherent in a business undergoing change and growth.

What You Will Do:

  • Must be able to effectively collaborate across the organization and positively influence business outcomes. Must effectively communicate with business leaders across all functional areas.

  • Participate in cross functional process improvement projects to drive a lean manufacturing mindset across the plant.

  • Partner with managers and plant leadership to gain alignment on value-added activities. Identify and lead process improvement activities within the finance and accounting function that drive value to the business.

  • Provide backup help to team members in the accounting and finance group.

  • Compliance and Internal Controls

  • Maintain a robust and effective internal control environment to ensure accounting procedures are compliant with GAAP and FICAP

  • Participate in Sarbanes Oxley testing reporting, with emphasis on prevention, elimination, and timely close-out of control deficiencies

  • Projects and Processes

  • Perform cost analysis/cost-rolls, manufacturing variance analysis, including standard cost establishment.

  • Create and maintain material, labor, and overhead cost rates as well as execute annual standard setting and related analysis.

  • Accurately reflect absorption of departmental costs for entire Princeton facility

  • Management Reporting and Analysis - Prepare weekly and monthly management reports and use reports to drive improvements and escalation of issues.

  • Month End Closing Process - Including journal entries, financial analysis, researching discrepancies, account reconciliations, and plant reporting.

  • CER (capital expenditure request) project tracking, assist on CER analysis and partner with the Capital Projects Manager on monthly spend details.

  • Prepare forecast and AOP ensuring alignment with operations, analyze and prepare summary of changes.

  • Projects and Special Assignments - This will include audit support, physical inventory, and financial guidance to plant and finance leaders.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required

  • Minimum 3 years of experience within Accounting or Finance

  • Experience in manufacturing environment is highly preferred

  • Analytical thinker. Must be willing to spend time in the details to solve problems independently.

  • Ability to explain and communicate financial results to management in an understandable and actionable format for decision-making purposes.

  • Strong skills in MS Office applications (especially Excel and Power BI)

  • Can work with cross-functional teams to solve issues through data driven analysis.

  • Self-starter that can see a problem and will work with others to solve it as efficiently as possible.

  • Strong leadership skills. Must be able to influence decisions at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to be flexible and organize one’s work.
