Cargill Government Relations Lead in Karachi, Pakistan

Job Purpose and Impact

The Government Relations Lead, Pakistan will guide and drive Cargill’s Government Relations strategy to secure a policy environment that supports the business objectives of the country. The person will represent Cargill on legislative and regulatory affairs with elected officials and government officials. In this role, you will build and maintain relationships with governments, trade associations, industry coalitions, public services and other authorities to influence policies and positions. In addition, you will be required to support the Communications and Corporate Responsibility function in-country.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as an advisor, support and closely collaborate with the leadership team in Pakistan on Government Relations, Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility.

  • Represent the company at forums and gatherings with government officials to exchange ideas and information on business activities and potential legislation that may affect the company.

  • Ensure that the organization's interests are represented and protected in legislative proceedings and in the development of market rules and procedures.

  • Proactively monitor national and state policy and regulatory developments, emerging trends, and other political or public issues with potential business impacts; propose response strategies; ensure risks are managed and opportunities assessed.

  • Provide support to the country for all communications working with teams across the region for Press Releases, Event Branding, marketing collateral and media engagement.

  • Support the in-country Corporate Responsibility projects by proactively working with the APAC team to ensure smooth delivery of corporate responsibility goals.

  • Lead advocacy campaigns and external positioning with government bodies and policy stakeholders;

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s/Masters degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in Corporate Affairs/Policy Advocacy/Government Relations

  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

PRIOR BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCES:

  • Has worked for an agriculture or food company in the country or in the Food and Agriculture sector in the government (preferable).

  • Experience in working in a matrix organization and leadership without a direct mandate both as a team member and single contribution.
