MAIN PURPOSE:

The Quality Assurance Manager oversees the compliance of the production facility, systems, processes, and products with all necessary quality standards and customer expectations. Additionally, they are responsible for staying updated on industry developments to ensure the company delivers optimal value to its end-user market. Moreover, they facilitate the implementation and management of integrated quality and environmental management systems.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS

Act as technical expert:

  • Assess Quick Response Quality Control methodology (QRQC) daily to improve product quality, workplace conditions, and manufacturing equipment.

  • Calibrate, validate, or maintain laboratory and Quality Control testing equipment.

  • Compile and act on laboratory test data.

  • Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of materials and finished goods.

  • Coordinate testing with internal and external contract laboratories and vendors as required

  • Develop and qualify new testing methods.

  • Evaluate new technologies and methodologies.

  • Facilitate new product / materials qualification.

  • Investigate customer complaints, counterfeits, product legal conformity, and supplier/outsource processes failures.

  • Maintain Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards and high levels of housekeeping in the Quality Labs and resources

  • Monitor and measure all products produced by the company's plant, including outsourced products, to ensure quality standards are met.

  • Monitor testing procedures to ensure compliance with established specifications and protocols.

  • Participate in internal and external EHS assessments and audits i.e ISO 14001, ISO 45001. ISO 50000

  • Facilitate internal and external Quality Management systems audits and processes ie ISO 9001

  • Train and develop laboratory and quality personnel.

  • Utilize leading indicators to predict and prevent future quality non-conformances.

Ensure quality standards adherence:

  • Act as management representative for ISO 9001:2018 quality standard.

  • Maintain ISO 9001:2018 certification and support the maintenance of ISO 14001 certification and other applicable certifications.

  • Act as authority for relevant quality standards, ensuring adherence and continuous updating of information and techniques.

  • Originate work instructions, procedures, and quality plans for existing and new products.

  • Liaise with suppliers, distributors, and customers on quality and performance issues.

  • Perform tasks related to quality control and assurance as required by applicable standards.

  • Perform validations or transfers of analytical methods.

  • Review data from contract laboratories.

Represent the company:

  • Act as management representative for ISO 9001 quality standard.

  • Maintain ISO 9001 certification and support the maintenance of ISO 14001 certification and other applicable certifications.

  • Act as authority for relevant quality standards, ensuring adherence and continuous updating of information and techniques.

  • Originate work instructions, procedures, and quality plans for existing and new products.

  • Liaise with suppliers, distributors, and customers on quality and performance issues.

  • Perform tasks related to quality control and assurance as required by applicable standards.

  • Perform validations or transfers of analytical methods.

  • Review data from contract laboratories.

Compile strategies for improvement

  • Use problem-solving methodologies such as Fishbone, 5Y, FMEA

  • Create Lesson Learned Cards to communicate learnings from problems.

  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Evaluate methods and procedures for improvement.

  • Identify and recommend solutions for quality and process problems.

  • Interpret test results and make recommendations.

  • Participate in investigations and recommend corrective actions.

  • Manage product change management in coordination with various groups.

Report on quality

  • Submit weekly management reports.

  • Enter customer complaints and conduct technical analysis.

  • Utilize global databases for logging technical reports.

  • Manage and resolve internal complaints through collaborative platforms.

  • Clerical: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Complex Problem Solving: Ability to identify complex problems, review related information, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions.

  • Quality Control Analysis: Conducting tests and inspections to evaluate quality or performance of products, services, or processes.

  • Systems Analysis: Determining how a system should function and how changes will affect outcomes.

  • Harmony: Building strong relationships that enhance overall effectiveness.

  • Troubleshooting: Identifying causes of operating errors and determining appropriate actions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of a Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) degree in Quality, City & Guilds Quality Assurance Management, or equivalent qualification.

  • Lead Auditor certification preferred

  • At least 3 years of pertinent experience as a Quality Assurance Manager in the FMCG industry, preferably in a 24/7 operational environment with a staff complement exceeding 50 employees.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, LIMS, PowerPoint, Outlook, and JDE.

  • Knowledge of Quality and 6 Sigma concepts and relevant computer software is beneficial.

  • Previous experience in the Injection Moulding and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector is advantageous.
