Robert Half Staff Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description

A large real estate development company located in central Houston is adding a Staff Accountant to their growing team. Primary responsibilities include bank and financial account reconciliations, review and recording of financial activity.

This is a hybrid opportunity.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparation of ledger reconciliations.

• Review and record cash activity company wide.

• Prepare and maintain schedules and reports to track, analyze, and communicate the financial activity of the Company, including the following:

o Monthly reporting of sales, releases, and closings;

o Financial schedules and worksheets of the Company’s property;

o Overhead analysis

o Lot and land under development costs, including records of such costs subject to reimbursement.

• Prepare and submit journal entries

• Assist with the lot acquisition process, including but not limited to the following:

o Coordinating with developers, title companies, and Division Presidents;

o Assist in calculating payment of property taxes and homeowner assessments dues;

• Communicate with department and construction personnel to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded and communicated.

• Assist with the Company’s financial statement audit process including responding to the audit requests.

Ideal candidate will have a degree in Accounting, 1+ year of general ledger accounting experience, advanced Excel and experience with an ERP system, MS Dynamics365 is a plus!

Compensation is up to 65K

Requirements • Minimum of 1 year experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processing

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations is essential

• Familiarity with General Ledger maintenance and management

• Ability to prepare and record Journal Entries accurately

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in all tasks

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

• Knowledge of accounting software and systems

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
