What role you will play in our team
Lab Technicians are responsible for the safe, reliable, and environmentally sound testing of our process streams and products to provide both quality certifications to our customers and analysis to run our chemical facility. Successful candidates will be provided 4-8 weeks of safety and laboratory training by a dedicated technician in our fast-paced, state of the art industrial lab. Lab Technicians work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays to support a 24/7 manufacturing site. This position is located in Gregory, Texas.
What you will do
Perform test methods and conduct laboratory analyses (hands-on working on the bench)
Follow all laboratory analysis methods and procedures rigorously and without deviations
Record and report test data in logbooks & LIMS without error
Prioritize and run samples according to required protocol
Understand and conform to general laboratory quality (QA/QC) and data integrity requirements
Verify instrument status, ensure calibration, and maintain standard/solution expiration labels to ensure they are legible and have not expired
Perform Statistical Quality Control (SQC) tests according to schedule
Maintain inventory of SQC standard on post
Troubleshoot/notify instrument Specialists when instrument is out of control
Assist with the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment under the guidance of the instrument Specialist
Participate in Test Method Assessments
Perform general housekeeping activities within the laboratory
Understand and follow all safety procedures
Participate in personnel safety & safe work practice team activities, and actively care for all
About you
Skills and Qualifications
A minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience in a laboratory or an associate’s degree or higher in relevant major (biology, chemistry, lab technician, etc.)
Must be at least 18 years of age
Successful completion of the ExxonMobil Pre-employment Test*
Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts, includes nights, weekends, and holidays; overtime may be required
Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
Effective oral and written communication skills
Dependable and reliable
Ability to follow detailed instructions
Ability to multi-task and work independently
Ability to work under general supervision to meet changing priorities and deadlines within a demanding 24/7 work environment
Proficiency with standard computer software, including MS Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
Demonstrated relevant work experience (industrial lab experience), particularly hands-on experience with wet chemistry instrumentation (titrations, distillation, RVP, UVs, ICP, dilutions, pipettes, etc.), gas chromatography (GC, HPLC), and/or polymers testing
Experience working in a team environment
Mechanical/instrumental aptitude
Desire and ability to be a leader in personnel safety and teamwork dynamics
