What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be the expert in implementing management systems to systematically identify, evaluate and control potential losses. You will be part of a dynamic team who drives matters of regulatory compliance and safe operations. Other duties will include:
Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety
Provide consultation and coaching to all employee groups with a purpose of instilling and maintaining a pro-active approach to safety in all areas.
Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety.
Participate in the Zero Harm Council as the management advisor.
Train others on incident investigation techniques (RCA-FBD) and the use of the IPL incident and action item database (SHAERS), and participate in incident investigations, reporting and follow-up.
Coordinate on-site and off-site safety and health training for new and existing employees.
Provide direction to the occupational health nurse about employee medical surveillance, transitional (restricted) duty and return to work policies.
Accompany external safety and health auditors during plant inspections.
Facilitate federal (OSHA and DHS) inspections of the plant to assist positive outcome.
Provide technical expertise in occupational health & safety regulations, policies, and procedures
Directing contractors to conduct mechanical integrity audits and driving root cause and corrective actions for identified risks
Implementing Risk Register review, maintaining Risk Register for the site and conducting required Bow Tie Analysis
Facilitating of Process Hazard Analysis and Layers of Protection Analysis studies
Owning and auditing various existing process safety programs such as Management of Change (MOC) program sitewide
Driving process safety corrective actions to closure
Setting and tracking goals and measures for PSM program improvement
Developing and implementing the proper strategy (advocacy) effort to achieve desired results
Coordinating process safety training at the site
Performing site PSM self-audits
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a Health & Safety or related field.
CSP – Certified Safety Professional preferred
5 years demonstrated management/safety skills in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
OSHA laws compliant.
Good working knowledge of the Quality Assurance program and safety processes through previous assignments.
Ability to interact and discuss issues with regulatory compliance officials.
Ability to provide direction and coaching to others in an effective leadership manner
Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration among all shift employees
Must satisfy the requirements for a "Possessor of Explosives" as defined by the Bureau of Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
Working knowledge of OSHA PSM requirements required.
Knowledge of basic investigative techniques for root cause analysis.
