Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind one of the world’s largest cloud infrastructures, responsible for powering all Microsoft online Products and Services as well as powering Microsoft’s “Cloud First” mission. We are looking for passionate, high energy program managers to help achieve that mission.

Within CO+I, the Infrastructure, Planning and Acquisition team is responsible for supporting delivery of datacenter capacity for Microsoft’s cloud business. We have a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects with specific safety, quality, schedule, and cost goals.

To help us accelerate achieving our objectives, growth, and transformation, we are looking for a Business Program Manager to evolve and transform our Business Operations processes, supporting network and fiber spend processes for our data centers.

Responsibilities

We are looking for someone with great project management and business analytical skills who is passionate about process efficiencies, will drive actionable insights across complex business, and will identify and resolve critical problems for our stakeholders.

  • Identifies internal opportunities to develop new programs and improve current ones with minimal guidance. Collaborates with others to identify root problems (e.g., root-cause analysis), define the program strategy, gather program requirements, identify resource needs, create the project plan and targets, and work across teams to align on the plan of record. Begins to improve operations of existing programs by applying industry methodology, defining program issues, assessing various scenarios, and selecting the optimal scenario to resolve issues. Drives clarity in program issues and strives for simplification.

  • Works with cross-functional (e.g., organizational, product, business) stakeholders (e.g., Engineering) to design programs from initiation to delivery with guidance. Collaborates to produce collateral (e.g., proposals, strategy walking deck, internal and external pitch content) to incorporate stakeholder needs and ensure the business objectives are met.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of mapping or how systems work and impact one another. Collaborates with others who work with other teams (e.g., Supply Chain, Engineering, Contracts, CELA, Sourcing, DCOPS) to ensure program processes are rigorous and executed efficiently. Helps develop processes around scope and scheduled changes for programs and communicates them to stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Telecommunications experience would be highly advantageous and preferred.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND some years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • This is an intermediate level role.

  • Preferred:

  • Background and solid understanding of telecommunications/WAN Network concepts.

  • Self-starter with strong business acumen and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities

  • Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills - ability to think strategically and act operationally

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively within multiple levels of an organization

  • Must be comfortable working with ambiguity and adept at using data to influence decision making

  • Demonstrated influencing skills, with proven ability to handle multiple stakeholders and work streams across various levels of the organization, and prioritize as needed, including pushing back

  • Experience with building and managing process flows, conducting training as required
