Position Summary: Responsible for assisting in the preparation and delivery of medications for patients within the Hospital. Provides those other services which may be required as part of daily operation of the Pharmacy Department. Assisting in the preparation/compounding of medications and pharmaceutical supplies, as well as delivery of medications to inpatient care areas and outpatient care areas. Must be supervised by a licensed pharmacist. Education, License & Cert: High School Diploma or equivalent. Certified Pharmacy Technician Training Program or evidence of experience with certification required. Pharmacy Technician Certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or other equivalent agency such as American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists required. Registration with NYS Board of Pharmacy as Certified Pharmacy Technician.

Valid driver's license is required.

Experience: Work as certified pharmacy technician in hospital setting preferred but not required. Essential Functions: 1. Assists in the preparation of medications per established departmental procedures. 2. Assists in the extemporaneous preparation of medications including unit dose packaging, mixing of liquid preparations. 3. Assists in the preparation of intravenous admixtures including IVPB, IV Push, Large volume IV additives, TPN solutions. 4. Assists in the preparation of chemotherapeutic medications and mixtures with oversight of a pharmacist. 5. Assists in crediting medications in the pharmacy information management system. 6. May be called upon to fill medication carts and distribution of carts to nursing units and patient rooms. 7. Replaced medication stock to automatic dispensing cabinets in patient care areas. 8. Adheres to all departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Other Duties: Assist in the delivery of medications to various nursing units and offsite locations such as Outpatient Cancer Treatment Center, Corning Surgical Center in Big Flats. Participates in annual department inventory. Work Rotation: includes days; evenings; weekends.

Pay Range $16.39-$24.69/hour
