Why this job matters

The Consumer Customer Facing Unit (CFU) delivers over £10bn of revenue and £2.4bn of EBITDA for BT Group. The CFU has three consumer brands; EE, BT and Plusnet – and numerous product lines including Landline, Broadband, Mobile, TV and Sport. This provides employees fantastic opportunities to grow their knowledge of the industry and develop a long-lasting career within the unit. Consumer finance plays a key role in driving top and bottom line growth. The function provides insightful reporting, analysis and business partnering that is integral to optimising decision making and delivering value for shareholders.

The TV Commercial Finance team has three key functions:

· Provide Finance Business Partnering support to the TV Strategy, Commercial, Marketing, Trading and Operational teams

· Stewardship of the Revenue and Direct Margin including business cases, actuals, commercial analysis, forecasting and ensuring key KPIs and lead indicators are understood throughout the business.

· Responsible for delivering long term (> 12 months) financial value and supporting key strategic initiatives that underpin Consumer’s Connected Strategy.

This role helps in defining BT TV in the premium Paid-TV market. The role holder will support the TV marketing team with ad hoc business casing and regular reporting, whilst supporting the Finance team and liaising with FP&A. They will focus on supporting the Business Partnering & Commercial Finance Manager with effective financial planning of all TV costs by working alongside key business decision makers. They will help to deliver effective commercial management to the TV P&L.

This opportunity is very important both financially and strategically to Consumer in helping underpin the TV strategy to compete effectively with Sky and Virgin who have strong TV offerings. They will have key involvement in annual budget cycles as well as being a key stakeholder for the TV Marketing & Trading teams for the formulation of business ideas. This is an extremely exciting opportunity for an individual to get wide exposure to Commercial Finance, as well as financial reporting, all whilst being part of a team that plays a crucial role influencing the business to protect and grow the P&L.

What you’ll be doing

Business partnering for multiple TV Marketing stakeholders (Roadmap, Props & Projects)

· Month end & reporting – ensure timely production of reporting files monthly & quarterly and send to relevant stakeholders. Ownership and development of TV content dashboard and KPI reporting to propositions team.

· Ad hoc business casing – Business casing for P&L initiatives and offers for customers coming to the end of contract life cycle, providing recommendation and ensuring any new initiatives drive P&L value.

· Ownership of TV set top box forecasting and base management, effective stock management (worth multiple £m) to enable trade and facilitate offer periods. Work closely with multiple business areas to ensure refurbishment is maximised to reduce overall spend.

· Forecasting – support budgeting process for TV & Sport, working on the MTP and interim updates.

· Cost control - collaborate with TV Product team and FP&A to manage fixed cost lines in the TV P&L. Working with Product team to discuss the outlook into the Cost areas for TV.

· Relationship building & stakeholder management – work collaboratively with members of the TV community to present & promote ideas and follow though to delivery.

Skills

· Able to develop and maintain strong relationships with wider Finance and TV Business Partners

· Able to manage a demanding workload using strong organisation and time management skills, with experience in managing processes efficiently in order to meet tight deadlines.

· Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

· Relevant Finance & Accounting experience in Budgeting and Gross Margin aspects of TV

· Must be a self-starter and self-motivated

· Excel (data manipulation and dashboard production) and PPT skills (including ability to present confidently)

· Takes decisions and exercises own judgement well, takes personal ownership & accountability for work undertaken.

· Works with high level of authority on fairly complex issues, can work independently whilst seeking appropriate support where necessary. Responds quickly and adapts to changing circumstances & requirements.

· CIMA (or similar) qualified.

· Previous Finance Experience.
