About the Position

The Technical Engineer - Associate is a divisional role that will work to develop technical understanding of the technologies practiced in the four Goodyear Chemical plants. The position will assist plant technical and operations to address plant issues and to identify improvement opportunities. The position will look for best practices between the plants. The position will work with Akron R&D on new product and process development. The position will provide support to technology licensing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Plant Technical Support - Routinely interface with chemical plant technical and operations to stay informed of current operational issues. Provide technical support to address process and equipment concerns. Will require travel between the plants.

  • New Product and Process Support - Participate in R&D project meetings to learn the R&D capabilities and systems. Will assist in the transfer of new technologies/products from R&D to the plants.

  • Licensing Support - Will support technology licensing opportunities.

  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Support - Provides technical support for accurate risk assessment of plant processes. Provides technical support for the safe handling of raw materials. Identifies and pursues actions that reduce plant environmental footprint.

  • Process Improvements - Work with the plant technical and operations to identify process improvement opportunities. Work with plant resources to develop the improvement project scope for financial analysis. Assist in implementation of the improvement.

Education and Requirements

  • BS in Engineering (Chemical preferred)

  • MS in Engineering

  • 2 or more years of experience working as an Engineer in a chemical manufacturing process.

  • Experience in working with multidisciplinary technical associates to achieve cost effective goals.

  • Project management experience is desired.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to lead/influence without direct authority.

  • Embraces collaboration and teamwork in achieving business goals/objectives.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and other continuous improvement tools.
