Copeland Health and Safety Leader in Ava, Missouri

The role is tasked with providing knowledge and expertise in the administration and management of safety processes, regulatory agency compliance, and company policies to drive a culture of zero incidents. You will work in conjunction with business unit and plant management to drive, model, and further develop the safety culture.

As a Health and Safety Leader, You Will:

  • Engage with both plant and corporate leadership in building strategic plans and energize plant associatesin safety and environmental improvement. Develops and implements innovative ways with the goal ofcrafting a culture of safety.

  • Develop and standardize policies, procedures, and programs sought at improving safety performance andensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Analyzes any actions data regarding performance against organizational metrics, incident trends, seriousincidents, regulatory and legal issues.

  • Prioritizes and leads the incident investigation process within the facility using root cause analysistechniques.Subject matter expert providing analytical and technical mentorship related to OSHA, DOT, EPA and local andstate regulatory requirements.

  • Leads all aspects of Workers Compensation injury review, investigation, and corrective actions. Collaborates with riskmanagement, HR and carriers to optimally lead claims.

  • Works closely with Plant Management, HR and BU EHS Leader to problem-solve and implement solutions.Develops and implements sampling and supervising plans for industrial hygiene requirements.

  • Collaborates cross functionally to ensure effective equipment guarding, design, installation andcompliance.

  • Work with on-site Safety Teams to achieve excellence in safety performance.

  • Maintain positive working relationships with facility personnel by developing and presenting weekly plantmeeting safety talks and leading safety committees.

  • Maintain and prepare facility safety performance information for monthly standard process sharing and safetyscorecard reporting with our other HVACR facilities.

You will facilitate breakthroughs by integrating diverse views, finding common ground, and/or acceptable alternatives to build a Zero Incident Culture. You provide timely and helpful information to individuals across the organization, following through on commitments and ensuring others do the same.

Required Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, or Safety Engineering. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered as alternate qualifications for education.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the EH&S field.

  • Strong leadership skills. Strong written and oral communication skills, organized, self-motivated for excellence, has a high standard of performance expectation of self, works effectively in teams.

  • Use of the Microsoft Office suite, Excel, Word, Power Point as part of normal job duties.

  • Statistical knowledge and proficiency. Strong project, organizational and time management.

  • Ability to work well with both technical and non-technical people.

  • Plant or culture transformation experience highly preferred.

  • Legal Authorization in the United States. Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • 4+ years of experience in the EH&S field.

  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) or other comparable certification desirable or ability to obtain such certifications

  • OSHA Certified (30 Hours).

  • Environmental experience.

  • Experience with Velocity EHS Software.
