Maintenance Technician

• Manufacturing company that makes foam and other insulation-type interior automotive components using injection molding and other processes

• Preventative and reactive maintenance

• Support supervisors and engineers in ensuring the equipment is running quality parts

• Complete job responsibilities in compliance with industry safety standards

• Troubleshooting issues with machinery and equipment, diagnosing problems, and fixing breakdowns as quickly as possible

• Using PLCs to troubleshoot processes and fault codes

• Mechanical and some 480v electrical work

• Working with electrical cabinets - troubleshooting, wiring, replacing drives, relays, etc.

• Troubleshooting quality defects

• Part repair and replacement

• Hydraulics and pneumatics

• Reading blueprints and schematics

• Start-up and shutdown of equipment via HMI units

• Change production settings of computer to different speeds, temperature, heights, placements and things specific to each product

• Working with robotic and automated equipment

Description:

Participate in activities concerned with design, construction, modification and maintenance of equipment and machinery related to manufacturing vehicle carpet/insulation and foam.

Inspects and repairs machinery and equipment based on operating parameters, according to engineering principles and safety regulations.

There are 6 manufacturing lines at this site. All 6 have a hot press and a cold press operated by a Siemens PLC. The hot press binds the insulating material to the adhesive to the carpet. The cold press shapes the product to fit the appropriate vehicle. There is a water jet that cuts out holes in materials that have a major angle the cold press can't cut.

Their light foam section is a laminator. Basically a large pizza oven. It provides mild heat for adhesive to attach to foam and connect sealing material. Heat unit and conveyers on this system.

Analyze mechanical and operational problems and take corrective action.

Test newly installed equipment.

Perform preventative maintenance.

notify supervisor of recurring issues and corrective actions taken.

Communication with other departments and shifts.

Adherence to safety.

Working with operators as needed to support production.

Must be able to read and comprehend work instructions.

Willing to work overtime as necessary.

Must-Have Skills:

• Industrial maintenance

• Manufacturing machine set-ups, changeovers, and troubleshooting

• Mechanical and technical adjustments to manufacturing machines for set-ups, changeovers, troubleshooting, and quality assurance

• HMI usage

• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems

• Preventative and reactive maintenance

• Mechanical and some electrical maintenance

• Reading blueprints and schematics

• Using electrical meters to troubleshoot issues

• Part repair and replacement

• Hand and power tools

• Using precision measuring tools for quality assurance - calipers micrometers, gauges

• PLC troubleshooting at machines, locating faults, resets, familiarity with ladder logic

• Robotics - troubleshooting, rehoming and recalibrating robotic arms, etc.

Preferred Skills:

• Automotive manufacturing experience

• Injection molding experience

• Working with stamping presses - hot and/or cold

• Electrical cabinet troubleshooting and maintenance

• PLC troubleshooting with a laptop, making adjustments to programs using ladder logic

• Robotics - mechanical and electrical maintenance, programming, working with servo motors

• Ability to speak Spanish

Pay: $25-$28/hr BASE rate, depending on experience, PLUS $0.20/hr for 2nd shift or $0.35/hr for 3rd shift

Attendance Bonus: $2.50/hr for each week you have perfect attendance, after hired permanently

Shifts: 2nd - roughly 3:00pm to 12:30am

3rd - roughly 11:00pm to 8:30am

Schedule: set schedule will either be Mon-Fri or 2-2-3-3, depending on the department they put you in. But they are working a lot of OT, regardless, so you will likely be working more than just the scheduled days each week.

Weekly hours: they are currently working a lot of OT, so probably about 60 hours a week
