Description

Do you have a solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records and the ability to multitask and manage time effectively? Robert Half is seeking experienced Medical Billers in the Albany area to assist local healthcare organizations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing, with the skills necessary to improve current billing procedures and reduce A/R days. The successful applicant may work on several tasks requiring data analysis, in-depth evaluation, and exercising judgement within the appropriate scope of practice. The Medical Biller oversees calculating and collecting payments for medical procedures and services. Their work includes updating patient data, developing payment plans, and preparing invoices. They work to ensure that patients are billed quickly and accurately.

Job Duties:

  • Insurance Claims Processing: Prepare and submit medical insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner to ensure timely reimbursement.

  • Patient Billing: Generate and send invoices to patients for their portion of medical bills, and assist with resolving billing inquiries.

  • Coding and Documentation: Review medical records and assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes for billing purposes, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines.

  • Payment Posting: Record payments received from insurance companies and patients, and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy.

  • Follow-Up: Follow up on outstanding insurance claims and unpaid patient invoices, addressing any discrepancies or denials.

  • Compliance: Stay up-to-date with healthcare billing regulations, including HIPAA, and ensure billing practices adhere to legal and ethical standards.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain organized and accurate records of all billing activities, including claims, payments, and patient information.

  • Software Utilization: Proficiently use medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems to manage billing processes efficiently.

    Requirements

  • Medical Billing Certification: A certification in medical billing and coding is often required.

  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology: Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures is essential for accurate coding and billing.

  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is crucial to ensure precise billing and coding.

  • Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary for interacting with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve billing discrepancies and denials effectively.

  • Tech Proficiency: Proficiency in using billing software and EHR systems.

  • Ethical Conduct: Adherence to ethical and legal standards in healthcare billing, including knowledge of HIPAA regulations.

  • Time Management: Efficiently manage workload to meet deadlines without the need for extended hours or overtime.

  • Teamwork: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians and administrative staff, as part of the billing process.
